What to expect in this course

The complete guide to making the best out of quarantine with your pup! In this course you will learn:

  1. Tricks!
  2. We will teach you step by step how to teach your dog to SPIN right, and SPIN left. Yep, that's right- your dog can learn his/her right from his/her left!
  3. How to weave in and out of your legs. Pretty fancy, but it's a great party trick and will keep your dog having fun for days! This is also a great trick to take outside to give your dog a little more than "fetch" at the park.
  4. How to go around an object and then add more distance! I love teaching dogs how to go around trash cans, cones, and trees. I constantly hear the complaint from pet parents that their dogs are destructive, anxious, and they don't know how to keep them busy. This is a great trick that can burn energy from your dog and you can eventually do it at parks and other locations!
  5. How to perform a fist bump and a hand touch! Both are fun easy behaviors your dog can perform to strengthen your bond and have fun with friends and family.
  6. How to perform the trick Peek-a-boo! A super cute trick that is also a great tool for your dog's body awareness and handler focus!
  7. How to JUMP over your leg! This is a wonderful trick for building your dog's strength and coordination. Plus, now your dog will pretty much be a canine acrobat!
  8. How to stand on TWO legs! This advanced trick is pretty darn awesome once it is mastered. Your dog will be able to stand and eventually walk on two legs, just like a human. This trick builds incredible strength for your pup as well as being a super fun trick to show off to friends.
  9. SMILE for the camera! (Also known as focus!) We'll teach you step by step how to get your dog to LOOK at the camera on cue! Real world application: for those of you who don't take millions of photos of your dog, you can also use this cue in public to get your dog focused on you. OR to get them focused when that scary postmates worker comes to the door.
  10. PLACE! This behavior is an absolute game changer for any and every dog. The end result is the ability to send your dog to his/her "place" (ex: bed, blanket, mat or platform) and she/he stays there until you release. With all this working from home craziness, it's important for your dog to have a job throughout the day. Dogs can become destructive, bored and anxious if they don't know what to do with themselves. The great part of place training is that your dog is given a "job" while you are working on your computer. Place can also be super useful when having other people over at the house (one day people, one day) as your dog will be out of the way. It is wonderful for teaching calm, polite greetings as well as having space when you want to eat dinner with your family without your pup 3 inches away from you.
  11. Brush Up on Basics! We'll help you brush up on all your basics- including sit, down, stay and come!
  12. Earning your NOVICE TRICK DOG TITLE! As a certified Trick Dog Instructor, Shelly can certify titles for you and your pup through video submission! Once you have completed this course, you can send a video submission in to Shelly and she'll coach you through the final steps of earning your Novice Trick Dog Award! The Novice Trick Dog Award is through "Do More With Your Dog".
